LINDSAY Modeling Rubber Mask- Calendula Review

Well, hello there.
If you follow me in my Facebook page and Instagram (which you totally should btw), you must have seen me posting this photo with four Modelling Masks. 12797604_1032254183479880_1594994061_n

These were from a recent shipment from Korean Cosmetics Bangladesh. I have been dying to try them out since I first saw them in Glow Recipe.
They come in lots of flavors (see the page here). But I only have these 4 and today I am going to review the Calendula mask.

What is a Rubber Mask?

Rubber masking is nothing new in Korea. They have been doing this in their spa’s for decades. But thanks to Lindsey, you can try them at home. This feels more luxurious on skin than a normal sheet mask. And you know how sometimes the sheet masks don’t fit your face and opening your eyes seems to be a  huge problem. You won’t face the same kind of hassle with rubber masks. After being mixed with water, this mask forms into the shape of your face.
Another amazing thing about the rubber mask is that it forms a non-reverse-osmosis occlusive barrier that causes a one-way forcing of the active ingredients into the skin. So they won’t get evaporated super fast.

This is the Lindsay Rubber Mask in Calendula. Let’s take a look at the ingredients:

Rubber masks are an unique mixture of calcium sulfate, diatomaceous earth(a soft, crumbly, porous sedimentary deposit formed from the fossil remains of diatoms) and alginate and enriched with several mineral/vitamin powders. The reaction of the first 3 ingredients to water is what makes it so rubbery. This rubber acts as a evaporation  barrier which is very beneficial for absorbing those good ingredients.

And another fun fact about diatomaceous earth. They are great for clarifying skin. They also minimize the appearance of pores and fine-tune the texture of our skin. This is the reason why irrespective of skin type, anyone can use this mask.

You can find alginate in Kelp extracts. When you mix water to alginate, it will turn into a soft gel like texture.

Let’s talk about Calendula which has anti-inflammatory properties. It soothes the acne-prone troubles skin. It also moisturizes and nourish the skin. It also has a powerful antioxidant named carotenoids.

How to Use It:

Step 1.
Fight with the packaging to open it and sniff the powder (because that’s what I did). Also the larger end of the spatula should face downward.

Step 2.
Gently pour water into the cup and avoid spilling. Fill the cup a little lower than the marked line.

Step 3.
Gently mix until no powder residues are left. It should look just like cake batter. Any liquid-y than this and you will be in trouble.

Step 4.

Apply a very thick layer of mask evenly to the face by using the spatula. Apply more thickly around the edges. This will make it easier to peel off. Use the whole mixture in the cup.

Step 5.
Wait 10-15 minutes until the mask is fully rubberized.

Step 6.
Peel off the mask and wash off any residue with lukewarm water. Apply serum and moisturizer afterwards.
Here’s me clumsily explaining how to use the mask. It’s in Bangla.

Tips:

  • Use the mask 1-2 times a week.
  • Apply a serum/ampule before putting on the mask. This will make the skin extra glowy.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where can I get it? Korean Cosmetics Bangladesh

What’s the price? –350 taka

Can I use it more than once? -No, this is a one time mask.

Will this make like onek onek shada? -No. Try harpic on your face. If it can clean the stains from your toilet, maybe it will work on your heart as well. Just kidding, don’t try this at home. Go to your nearest parlor for a whitening facial. Here’s a post on how to be whiter in 7 days.

Is this mask worth the money? – As I said earlier, this is not for daily use. It gives you a spa like experience at home. I do my facials at home, never went to parlor for any kind of procedures, except eyebrow and upper lip threading. So, I can totally justify using this once-twice a week. This made my skin look glowy and plump. I loved the results.
